So a year ago today, on Cyber Monday, Tim and I launched Geekadelphia.

We were pretty excited. We wanted to start some kind of project together for a really long time, and this was it. Geekadelphia started as an outlet for all of our geeky interests links to kitschy new products and ideas.

When we started posting, we never thought our little website would take off in such a fun, wonderful way — both online and offline. Dressed in full Stormtrooper regalia, we raided Comic book shops, made some new friends @ Pod, and have the footage of our subway adventure. Then there was the Battlestar Galactica party, our Iron Man movie screening, the Halloween costume contest at Tattooed Mom… so many good times with great people!

And that is easily the best part of running this website:. The people. It’s been said a lot of times by a lot of different folks, but we love writing about this stuff every single day for y’all and we love hanging out and drinking a beer (or Zima, Eric) even more. We’ve made a lot of great friends while blogging on here: The folks at Indy Hall, the clever hackers at The Hacktory, our boys over at Brave New Worlds, the friendly bloggers at Joystiq and our bald Japan-living buddy at CheapAssGamer. There certainly are a lot more, and you know who you are.

And the press! From an article in the Philadelphia Weekly to a fun video on CBS3… its been a blast; most importantly though, we’ve made a lot of great friends while running this website.

Adding the cherry to an already delicious double fudge brownie sundae of a day, Philly Burbs named us one of Philadelphia’s Top Ten Blogs, along with our friends Phillyist and Used Wigs.

And we’re just getting started. In the upcoming months, we’ll bring you more contests, more reviews, more geeky baked products and (gasp!) more original content than you can shake a stick at. Here’s to another year of rambling about video games, Lego’s, comic books, Star Wars, toasters, Battlestar Galactica, and whatever else makes us happy.
