Robot Chicken Star Wars Emmy Nod Prompts Sequel

robotchicken.jpg

There’s no point in denying that your favorite Robot Chicken episode is the Star Wars one. That’s probably the reason they received an Emmy nomination for the 22 minute geektastic episode. It prompted the greenlighting of a sequel scheduled to premiere November 16th with guest appearances (as always) like Carrie Fisher (Leia), Billy Dee Williams (Lando), and Conan O’Brien.

This news is so exciting I might need a change of pants in a min..wait.  Nope.  I need a change of pants now.

WANT: Space Invader Cutting Board

Fact: I like cooking.  If I didn’t already own 16 different cutting boards I would buy this in a heartbeat.  Actually Meg would kill me if she knew I spent $129.99 for a cutting board.  Regardless, it’s motherfrackin’ SPACE INVADERS.

I highly recommend that you get one of these, Eric.  It would match your cubicle nicely…not that you need a cutting board at your cubicle.  Or do you?  I never know what sort of twisted, horribly disgusting things go on at your work to be honest.

Garden Zombies: Ordered, To Be Placed in Rittenhouse Square

Garden Zombies: Ordered, To Be Placed in Rittenhouse Square

Design Toscado have a ton of rather clever garden decor for the more… creative types. The Garden Zombie is just one of them.

According to their website, this zombie is not your average garden gnome. These guys are life-sized. The sculptures will run you a solid $90, which might seem a bit pricey, but really, you can’t put a price on horrifying little children. You just can’t.

While you’re on their website, make sure you scope out the Poison Oak tree sculpture.

Super Mario Bros Mural: OMG

Super Mario Bros Mural: OMG

Mural Arts… how many times must I suggest video game murals to you guys before you get to action? Just look at this awesome Super Mario Bros mural.

This mural took artist BPAK (?) over three weeks to create. Unfortunately the paint was water-based, so the mural is just temporary, but at least there is this great picture to keep it in our memory. And our hearts. *sigh*

Vikings vs. Aliens: Let The Oscar Buzz Begin

outlander_movie_poster.jpg

I don’t know about you, but I adore a good awful movie. What constitutes a good awful movie, you ask? A ridiculous plot with awful dialogue, blended with fantastic special effects. Please see 10,000 BC (Egyptians enslave cavemen and mammoths to build pyramids?), The Day After Tomorrow (closing that library door really saved them?), and Starship Troopers (BUGS!) for examples.

Welcome Outlander to the mix. Starring everyone’s favorite Jesus, James Caviezel, the film… well… here’s a plot description for you from the producers…

Outlander begins when a space craft crashes into the majestic fjords of ancient Norway and into the time of the Vikings. From the wreckage emerge two bitter enemies: a soldier from another world – Kainan – and a bloodthirsty creature known as the Moorwen. Man and monster both seeking revenge for violence committed against them. As the Moorwen ravages the Viking world, killing everything in its path, Kainan forms an unlikely alliance with the primitive but fierce warriors. Combining his advanced technology with ancient Iron Age weapons, the hero leads a desperate attempt to kill the monster - before it destroys them all.

… that’s right. Vikings vs. Aliens. I seriously cannot wait for this movie. And it actually has a decent supporting cast, with Ron Perlman (yes!) and John Hurt backing it up.

What do you think?

Super Mario Landscape: I Wish This Was My Room

Wow.

Unfortunately, there isn’t a lot of information on this awesome installation online, save for the post Geekologie wrote. The installation, simply entitled Landscape, is a piece by artist Antoinette Citizen. You can visit her page here, but unfortunately there isn’t much on it.

A few more photos of the installation after the jump. Take a look, and be amazed.

Sushi Cake: Delicious, Not Made of Fish

Sushi Cake: Delicious, Not Made of Fish

Our pal Zoe Lukas (who made our delectable Battlestar Galactica cake) is at it again, with this absolutely beautiful sushi themed cake. Like she says in the description of the cake, this is vegetarian sushi… her way.

The cake is made out of spiced carrot ginger cake with cream cheese icing. All those cute little details, the chopsticks, soy sauce bowl, snap peas… they aren’t plastic. Those are edible, made out of gum-paste, and the bamboo, wasabi, ginger… made out of fondant. The rice is coconut.

There’s another close up of the cake after the jump. Be sure to visit Whipped Bake Shop’s website and Zoe’s Flickr for more cute creations. Mmm!

The Iranian Missiles: Now, With More Photoshop

The whole world got a good LOL over those Photoshopped Iranian missiles. It was only a matter of time until witty took to their computers, and created their own Photoshop disasters.

Custom Guitar Hero Sax Controller: Saxophone Hero!

Ah, video game controller mods, how we love you. This custom made guitar hero controller shaped like a saxophone holds a special place in Geekadelphia’s heart, since two of the three writers have played in ska bands in our youth, and love the saxophone. Pick it up pick it up. Hep hep!

Custom Guitar Hero Sax Controller: Saxophone Hero!

This custom built controller sits inside a gutted and painted saxophone toy, and inside, sits a PS2 controller. The auction endded at $10. I thought it would have gone for more.
