Events

Maybe one day we’ll launch an events calendar, and rip off our friends Technically Philly. Til then, here’s a list of what’s coming up. Come on out and party with us. We’re cool. At least, that’s what our moms tell us.

8static & Little Big Philadelphia Party
March 13th, 2010
Come celebrate the unveiling of the Little Big Philadelphia contest winner, and party down with 8static, the city’s one and only chiptune dance party. Lots of great chiptuners are performing, and a vintage game seller will be on the scene, hocking classic titles you can’t find anymore.

We’ve thrown a lot of parties, events, fundraisers, etc… and we tend to take a lot of photos. Rather than let these sit in the archives, alone and scared, we’ve opted to feature them here, in our previous events section. Click away, check out some recaps, and relive the fun we had.

Modern Warfare 2 Competition @ Indy Hall
February 20th, 2010
Parker Whitney, the latest addition to the Indy Hall crew, and Geekadelphia threw a fun Modern Warfare 2 tournament at the loveable coworking space. Folks went away with prizes, dudes from Hive 76 destroyed me in Halo 3, and Red Bull sponsored the event with free energy drinks. Check out some photos, here.

Barcamp Philly After-party & Fundraiser
November 14th, 2009
Barcamp Philly trusted us (thanks Roz!) to host a Rock Band afterparty at National Mechanics. Save for some hickups with the 360, things went well, and good times were certainly had. Gave away a ton of prizes and auctioned off swag for charity. Check out Dan’s photo gallery from the party, here.

August 12th, 2009
We joined forced with SouthPeak Entertainment and Tattooed Mom to throw a release party for the first person shooter, Section 8. Lots of folks came in, including some of the game’s developers. We gave out games, posters, and Open Source Cupcakes provided some tasty noms. Check out some photos and read up about the event, here.

Ben Franklin’s Birthday Party @ National Mechanics
January 19th, 2009
Our BFF Ben Franklin, the best Geek ever born, turned 302 in January of 2009. So we threw a little party for him, with prizes sponsored by Brave New Worlds and National Mechanics. Music was played, people danced, and many Woodchuck Ciders beers were drank.

Indyhalloween @ Tattooed Mom
October 31st, 2008
The first Indyhalloween, and Geekadelphia was invited. We were the special guest judges, and we judged you harshly. Some people may have cried, others swore off this blog entirely. I might be lying about all of that.

Iron Man Screening @ Indy Hall
October 8th, 2008
We screened Iron Man at Indy Hall in Old City, gave away posters from the film, and nibbled on snacks. Those were fun days, and we were just a baby Geekadelphia back then. Thanks to Alex, Dana, and the whole Indy Hall crew for welcoming us in, and starting off a chain of future geek parties.

Geekadelphia Battlestar Galactica Party
May 10th, 2008
This was our first event. Ever. We teamed up with the folks at The Hacktory to watch some favorite Battlestar Galactica episodes at the old Indy Hall coworking space. Zoe Lukas of the now-famous Whipped Bakeshop, created an epic Battlestar Galactica cake, that you may have seen on the news. It was awesome.
