New TV Jobs in Philadelphia: Geekadelphia Demands Own Show

New TV Jobs in Philadelphia: Geekadelphia Wants Own Program

I imagine working on television is a lot like the show 30 Rock. Everyone is funny, cute, quirky, and you have a crazy boss that, despite his faults and how he insults, is sort of a good guy. Tim and I have always wanted our own television and/or web series, hence the start of our Geekadelphia videos over on Blip TV. This was done mostly in hopes of scoring a guest spot on G4′s Attack of the Show, so we could meet Olivia and convince her to marry either one of us. Alas, this was not to be.

But, our hopes peaked back up again when we received an email about Versus bringing all these television jobs to Philadelphia. They’re a part of Comcast and handle all kinds of nifty shows, from NHL coverage to Professional Bull Riders (the PBR, not to be confused with delicious Pabst Blue Ribbon).

Take a look at their website, see if anything interests you. They even have a video.

Professional gaming is considered a sport, right? A sport that could maybe land me a six figure salary job? What do you say Versus, hook a brother up.

Futurama: Now in Lego

When I heard Futurama was returning with new episodes and a feature-length-straight-to-DVD movie (Benders Big Score was amazing, by the way), I have to admit, I was absolutely thrilled. Like Arrested Development, Futurama was canceled far before its time.

Here’s hoping for more Lego sculptures like this to go along with the new episodes.

A Battle of Biblical Proportions: Bible Fight

A Battle of Biblical Proportions: Bible Fight

Oh Adult Swim, how I love you. Behold, their latest creation… Bible Fight.

A flash game in which you choose your religious icon from the Bible and duke it out against another, Street Fighter II style. Check out Noah’s crazy stampede attack above. He kicked my ass (I was the Devil) with that!

Give it a whirl, but be warned, it has some serious sound effects and epic music. You’ll need to have your sound off at work.

Letterman’s Top 10 via Battlestar Galactica

bsg_cast1.jpg

On March 19th, David Letterman will have 10 cast members from Battlestar Galactica present the Top 10 List. The Underwire wanted to figure out what sort of list it will be… and “Best Places to Frack” would be especially entertaining coming from Edward James Olmos (Admiral Adama). Honestly, I just want to watch more of Grace Park (Athena/Boomer).

Other cast members include President Roslin, Apollo, Starbuck, Gaius, Number Six, Colonel Tigh (does anyone else hope he has the eyepatch?), the Chief, and D’Anna. I also am proud of myself for being able to resist the temptation to make any Final Five references. Letterman airs at 11:35 p.m. ET/PT.

The fourth season of Battlestar Galactica kicks off on March 28 at 10 p.m. ET/PT with two back-to-back half-hour specials, with the first new episode premiering the following week, April 4, 10 p.m.

Keep an eye out for Geekadelphia’s own BSG Premiere Party somewhere in Old City! By then I will have successfully turned Eric into a Cylon.

The Last Supper aboard Battlestar Galactica

bsg_lastsupper.jpg

The creators of Battlestar Galactica are driving me insane. I’ve waited a full year and all they’ve had to offer me is a prequel television event (Razor) and its not-so-safe-for-TV DVD release. Now I have this nifty hi-res Last Supper-esque gathering of the main characters to hang in my cubicle thanks to a recent issue of Entertainment Weekly.
Release the final season kthx?

Paintings Inspired By The Office: Want!

Paintings Inspired By The Office: Want!

Philadelphia artist Ellen Lohse created some absolutely gorgeous paintings inspired by the hysterical sitcom, The Office. She has all the characters available, and I want every single one.

Visit her Etsy store to view the entire collection. Right now my favorites are the images of Dwight and Michael. Just look at that enormous smile! She also has some prints from Lost, which are equally fantastic.

10 Best Sci-Fi Spaceship Suicides

io9 presents us with a killer list (and video clips to boot) of the 10 best kamikaze scenes in Science Fiction. I was always fond of the ticking clock and ridiculous amounts of sweat during Ripley’s escape from the Nostromo in Alien. We also think that blowing up the entire ship to kill a single alien is excusable a little ridiculous. What a nut.

Don’t miss the clip of a fatty Lee Adama sending the better ship Battlestar Pegasus to its immensely entertaining theatrical doom. Of course this list wouldn’t have been complete without a reference to Star Wars. The decision to use a photo of Executor crashing into the 2nd Death Star is classic. It almost deserves a “FAIL” posting.
