Nice picture, right? Spaceship taking off. Big puffy clouds. Blue sky.

Well, as a photo that’s only 513x pixels wide, it really doesn’t do the original photo justice, which is almost 1000 pixels wide.

That’s one of the most frustrating things about having a blog. You want to share this fun content you find on the web with people; pictures, videos, etc, but when it’s time to place the image in on your site, BAM, you have to shrink it, thus ruining it forever.

That’s the beauty of The Big Picture. This blog features the enormous, gorgeous photos from news sites and magazines, and keeps them in large format. Right now it seems like it’s going to be updated daily, and let me tell you, I’m loving it. Pay the blog a visit, and tell them we sent ya.

Ray from PhillyBits was off exploring South Jersey this past weekend, and caught a pretty hysterical sight. Wild peacocks. He followed the bird around, taking photos galore, and capturing these great shots of the peacock being stalked by a neighborhood cat.

The funny thing was that it was being actively stalked by their indoor/outdoor cat George, 16lbs of gorgeous yet fiercely anti-social at times cat who is ultimately tough as nails and could probably take on such a much larger prey, though chose not to in the end.

Seriously Ray, stop being so awesome. First you take those awesome New Years Eve fireworks pictures, than the amazing eclipse photos, and now this?

Wild Peacocks in South Jersey @ PhillyBits

We featured the work of Mike Stimpson, a photographer out of the UK who specializes in Lego, yesterday. However, I really couldn’t pass up mentioning this print that I recently ordered entitled Imperial Cutbacks.

Mike, an absolutely amazing photographer from the UK, photographs Legos. Lots of them. His recent series, Classics in Lego, features classic photographs, redone using Lego people, backgrounds, and some seriously fantastic macro photography.

Best of all, you can purchase prints. Anything from a small 3×5 to a large, framed 8×10, off his Red Bubble store. I’m definitely picking up one. You should too!

Michael Rvasailev (maybe?) took a bunch of photographs and well… stuck some pixels in them. Scenes from Pitfall, Pac-Man, The Legend of Zelda… the list goes on. Each image is full of epic and win.

My personal favorite is this Megaman battle. The Megaman X series was always one of my favorites in Capcom’s legacy of Megaman games. Check out the full gallery over on his Picasa page. Each image can be downloaded at high rez, and make perfect desktop wallpapers.

Pixels in Real Life via That Girl’s Site

You gotta love London’s campaign to battle terrorism, and how they are telling people to keep their eyes out for suspicious looking photographers or cell-phone users. The best thing about these posters, are the hilarious spoofs appearing all over the interweb.

This one has got to be my personal favorite.

The always awesome PhillyBits posted some photos of the eclipse over Philadelphia. Came out absolutely gorgeous. My weak point and shoot camera couldn’t get anything close to this, so thanks for getting these captures!
