Wikipedia defines a geek as “a peculiar or otherwise odd person, especially one who is perceived to be overly intellectual” and describes a geek as “one with low social skills, regardless of intelligence.” Geekadelphia is a bunch of geeks blogging (and drawing) about all-that-is-geek in the City of Brotherly Love and beyond. That definition… well, it doesn’t quite sit well with us.
We don’t claim to be peculiar, odd, overly intellectual, lacking in social skills, hermits, hackers, or neophiliacs. We don’t call everyone “n00bs” or “pwn” people on a daily basis. We’ve never watched Beauty & The Geek or Beat The Geeks when they were on television, though we did enjoy Freaks & Geeks. Who didn’t?
We do, however, claim to love video games, computers, pointless-inventions, high budget over-the-top action movies, useless gadgets, comic books, South Park, WoW, Family Guy, Star Wars, and consequently, episodes of South Park and Family Guy that make fun of WoW and Star Wars.
Our goal? To talk about geeky things that interest us and highlight events, stores, and people in Philadelphia who, like us, are geeky.
Welcome to Geekadelphia. Enjoy your stay… n00b.

Eric Smith
Eric spends most of his time writing, taking pictures, reading, and hanging out with his (somewhat famous) chinchilla Mittens and bunny Rory. He teaches writing and literature at some local Philadelphia colleges and loves promoting Philly at his day job. He knows absolutely nothing about sports, and is proud of it. He spends approximately 20 hours a month riding the Amtrak to visit his girlfriend in upstate New York. He hates traveling, but loves any excuse to play Chrono Trigger on his netbook.
You can catch him in Rittenhouse Square with his rabbit most warm evenings, and at the local Starbucks on his Macbook almost everyday. Despite how much he picks on Christopher Wink, his favorite (non-Geekadelphia) local blog is Technically Philly. If you want to get owned on Xbox Live in a game of Halo 3, Modern Warfare 2, or Grand Theft Auto IV, his Gamertag is “Mittens Smith”. You’ve been warned. Now bring it.
Tim Quirino
Tim designing websites & pretty things for a living a la Big Red Tank & Defined Clarity. He’s been known to sing now and again, and plays a mean guitar. Fun Fact? Him and Eric met back in high school, when they both played in ska bands. Neither will admit this in public, so it’s best not to ask.
His toy collection speaks volumes about his raging hunger for all things even remotely related to Star Wars. He also has an unhealthy obsession with WoW, synth dance music, PYT, and his awesome girlfriend. He also owns a bunny. Eric’s girlfriend smuggled it on an Amtrak train from Albany, New York to Philadelphia. Someone already bought the movie rights. Tim will play himself.
Dan Tabor
Dan is the “married one”. He’s a Graphic Designer and Podcaster with a fondness for anime, comics, manga and anything with an Apple logo. He’s a passionate photographer, as you can plainly see via his Flickr page.
He spends most of his time in the city going to old horror movie screenings and book readings.

Ben Gilbert
Ben loves pancakes, videogames and the combination of the two especially. He also loves sushi and fancy imported beer, though prefers to keep those two things separate.
Ben spends more time making his cat dance than one person ever should. He writes game news, previews and reviews for a number of sites — including this one! — and can also be found on Joystiq, editing lots of Eric’s posts for grammar, and in the Belgian Cafe in Fairmount, where he likes to eat while thinking about video games. You can also find him Tweeting here and on le facebooke.
Dustin Johnson
Dustin lives for capturing the essence of life in his notepad… he’s an illustrator. He also enjoys writing rants here on Geekadelphia, especially about movies. You can often find him rummaging through old comics at a number of Philadelphia comic book shops, but mostly at Brave New Worlds.
You can find him posting frequently on his Blog or Deviant Art profile, where you can check out some of his newest sketches and comic strips.
Bianca Cevoli
Bianca can hand you yours in all-things Battlestar Galactica, but sometimes suspects the boys keep her around for her I Love Lucy antics. Star Wars toy collection aside, Bianca pixels her days away as graphic designer. A style blogger for fun, this shmitten kitten sometimes takes a break from watching The X-Files to turn her tunes on and have a roof party with her friends. Bianca is also often found in the park eating ice cream, reading and petting other peoples’ pets.
Far McKon
No one is really sure how Far managed to land an account to post on Geekadelphia. Yet he continues to do both! Is it l33t h4×0r skills? Social Engineering? Who knows. Born short, bald, and not very smart, he’s worked for years to overcome the handicap. These days he is tall, bald, and not very smart.
