Preston & Steve’s Campout for Hunger 2011 Starts Nov. 28th

As we all get ready for the fun and frivolity of another Holiday season, it’s sometimes hard to remember that some people will be doing without this year. And I don’t mean without presents or that hot new toy; I mean the basics, like food. More and more people have had to turn to food cupboards in order to feed their families in these trying economic times. So what can be done to help?
How about you take two radio show hosts, plant them in a camper for a week and let them collect food?
For over ten years now, Preston Elliot and Steve Morrison of 93.3 WMMR have been the driving force behind the Campout for Hunger, living in a RV for a week and collecting food and money for Philabundance. Every year the event has gotten bigger and bigger to the point where it takes up a sizable chunk of the parking lot of the Metroplex Shopping Center in Plymouth Meeting, PA. It’s a huge, week long party that does a world of good for the Philadelphia region and makes the holidays that much better for loads of families in need.
So how can you help? First, go buy some non-perishable foods or, better yet, get a whole bunch of people to collect some food. Second, go to The Metroplex Shopping Center between Monday, November 28 and Friday, December 2 and give the food to Preston and Steve. Then walk around, meet some cool people and get that warm, fuzzy feeling you experience when you do a good thing.
