The Jawn: Explore, Discover & Improve Philly

The origin was simple. Jeremy Sanchez and Marc Levy, along with some friends wanted to head out to a different bar instead of the usual 12 Steps Down. After some quick online searches and reading reviews, there wasn’t anywhere to see pictures of the different bars. All the sites were full of ads or cluttered with randomness.
So TheJawn.com was born. So appropriately named for anything/everything Philly. I love it.
They came up with the idea to create a simple site just for Philly bars and restaurants with clear photos and information. (Later to be expanded to include any type of business.)
Since their original idea, they’ve added a few new things:
- Business can now manage their pages to keep their info. up-to-date and share photos, events, menus, donate to charity and more
- Searchable Menus, look up a type of food
- Karaoke and Quizzo schedules in Philly
- Movie Times for Philly theaters
- Users can add and share events for free
- Over 1,500 new photos of Philly places have been added in the past 6 months
The ultimate goal of The Jawn is to be a locally-focused, online hub for residents and businesses alike. I’m personally interested to see the charitable aspect of the website evolve. Jeremy’s indicated that they plan on organizing block clean-ups, food drives and more. I’m on board.
Haven’t checked out The Jawn yet? Go ahead. I’m so envious of their domain.

That’s not just the jawn! It’s the jimmie jawn! (The West Philly in me coming out…)
Really excited to see what this site has in store for the future! Every city needs something like this
Almost don’t want to share this part in case the cash runs out:) They pay you for reviews too! My daughter received a money order about a week or two ago, I believe the site says it’s temporary.
You do x amount of reviews of course and a portion is donated to charity, I believe my daughter received a $19 check, not too shabby IMO, it’s taking me a wee bit longer to get there personally.
This site is really cool. So helpful and easy to use. Can’t wait to see what it grows to. Get on Philly!
Awesome site bro! One of my favorite places bar none! You guys have done an excellent job. Can’t wait to see other cities too. Charities..god drives?!! Count me in!
this is different/better than yelp how? (besides a hopefully less trifling user base)
