Red vs. Blue! You Get It, But If They Don’t… Zero Points!

This Saturday, May 21st, ComedySportz is hosting their first ever ComedyGeekz show, and I want you to come hangout. Unfamiliar with ComedySportz? Here’s the deal, right from their website:

ComedySportz is Philadelphia’s leading improv comedy show. Two teams of improvisers vie for points in a hilarious competition by playing a series of improv games, similar to what yo may have seen on TVs Whose Line Is It Anyway? A referee governs the action, calling fouls and keeping the match moving at a blistering pace. The audience is always a part of the interactive show, and audience volunteers sometimes even wind up on stage!

Because everything is improvised, it’s never the same show twice. And it’s clean–appropriate for all ages. Every ComedySportz match is a unique and unforgettable event–laughs guaranteed! Come see why so many people come back to see us again and again.

This Saturday’s ComedyGeekz event is, you guessed it, ‘geek’ themed. The ComedySportz crew will be challenged to come up with humor that appeals to the inner geek in audience members. Comic books, D&D, video games, Monty Python, science fiction, Star Trek, Magic: The Gathering… you name it, it’s all fair game.

Now, if you’re worried that these comedians won’t properly represent geek culture, fear not. Geekadelphia has been invited as a special ‘celebrity guest judge’, and I will lay the hammer down on anyone doing it wrong.

ComedySportz shows go down every Saturday at The Adrienne Theatre, located right near Rittenhouse Square. Shows run for an hour and thirty minutes, with an intermission. This one kicks off at 10pm. Be there, geeks.

About Eric: Eric spends most of his time writing, taking pictures, reading, and hanging out with his (somewhat famous) chinchilla Mittens and bunny Rory. He teaches writing and literature at some local Philadelphia colleges and works in publishing. He knows absolutely nothing about sports, and is proud of it.
