Dorian’s Parlor: April Recap [Photos]

Every month or so—The DoubleTree Hotel’s Ballroom turns into a parade of Steampunk and Neo Victorian allure. Dorian’s Parlor is a wonderful event for anyone who is looking to party with the darker side of life. This is where the freaks come to be freaks, and everyone is accepting and friendly.

While at Dorian’s Parlor you may see top hats, corsets, and gas masks being worn by people on the dance floor. You’ll catch a glimpse of a cute clown walking around on stilts making balloon animals. The mystery behind some of the people at Dorian’s Parlor is what will bring you back for more.

Besides the wonderfully interesting attendees—you can catch some amazing vendors to boost up your next Steam Punk outfit. Mayfaire Moon’s corsets will make you look beautiful, Green Bunny Hats has a hat for any outfit you desire, Brute Force Studios has all the gears and goggles you need, and Griffin’s Claw will help you complete your Steam Punk look with some antique sunglasses.

Culture Asylum shared its Subculture Magazine with the guests of Dorian’s Parlor, and spoke with aspiring contributors. Dorian’s Parlor is a great way to meet people that are interested in the same culture that you are. Whether it is business or pleasure, I was introduced to a number of exciting and ambitious people.

The performances at Dorian’s Parlor were enough to make you stay for the entire evening. DJ Kiltboy made the crowd move with his unique Swing/Electricswing set. The fashion show provided by Twin Bee Designs was titillating and the fashions were amazing. Platform One rocked the crowd with it’s Gothic Synthpop, and front man V. Nigel Taylor always knows how to please a crowd. Sxip Shirley’s unique beats were truly an experience all together, and I suggest you check him out.

Every attendee of Dorian’s Parlor received VIP tickets to The National Halloween, Horror, Haunted House, and Hearse Convention—which was a nice surprise. Tickets for Dorian’s Parlor are $25 and sold at the door the night of the event. Your tickets include admission, 1 drink ticket, and Hors D’oeuvres, but you must be 21+ with valid ID to enter the event.

The next Dorian’s Parlor is June 4th! So mark your calendars and get your outfit together! It’s a great time, and everyone should attend. The more the merrier!
