An Interview With Rebecca Marshall of SAW 3D

Guest Post by Sarah Solomon
When one mentions Halloween two things immediately spring to mind: slutty costumes and scary movies. The Saw series has been an audience favorite for many years, considered by some to be the thinking man’s horror film. The movies have been noted for breaking boundaries and finding new, twisted, and unspeakably grotesque ways for Jigsaw to teach his victims a lesson.
I was lucky enough to interview the beautiful Rebecca Marshall who will be appearing in the upcoming Saw 3D film (opening October 29th) to see what she had to say about the film, her career, and why Canada is awesome.
1. Do you feel your character is an accurate portrayal of a stereotypical horror movie girl, or is she different? If so, how?
She is definitely different. I can’t say too much and give away my character, but I can tell you she is very head strong and has a way of cutting corners to get to the top.
2. The Saw series has covered almost every plot device and scenario imaginable. What can you give away without spoiling the movie?
Ah! Not much. I will say this though… the traps are like nothing you have ever seen before. This final installment is the ultimate Saw. This is what fans have been waiting to see, and even with high expectations they won’t be disappointed!
3. How are you similar or different to your character? Was there anyone in particular you tried to emulate for this role?
I am nothing like my character and that’s a good thing. It’s not that she is a bad person, but she isn’t a very nice person either. She doesn’t care about others.
More after the jump!
4. What would your dream role be?
Wow! That’s a tough question. I love all genres of movies, so I want to be the type of actress who is well rounded and makes Comedies, Dramas and Action films. Actresses who can “do it all” like Angelina Jolie, Cate Blanchett and Julie Roberts inspire me.
5. Are you a personal fan of scary movies, and how do you feel about the previous Saw movies?
I am the biggest wimp when it comes to scary movies. I love watching them, but I end up covering my eyes throughout the entire film. I have watched all of the previous Saw films and I think that they are terrifying. What really scares me are the movies based on true stories, or things that can happen in real life… these are, in my opinion, the scariest!
6. Jigsaw has been doing a lot of damage from beyond the grave. Do you feel this cheapens the movie or makes it more eerie?
I think that because he can keep doing damage from beyond the grave, it just adds to the “puzzle” of the experience and keeps the audience guessing. He would never leave his work undone!
7. What was it like working with Cary Elwes, and are you a fan of his work in The Princess Bride?
I LOVE Cary Elwes. He was very professional , charming and funny. I only saw him one day on set but I managed to spill hot chicken noodle soup all over him when giving him a hug goodbye. I felt terrible, but I think he’ll remember me.
8. I see you’re being a proactive with your website EverydayEnvironment.com, what can you tell us about it?
Yes, it is something that I feel very passionate about. My partner and I are hoping to get it up and running within the next year. It’s a lot of work, but it will be something that I am hoping will help our planet, and will give people a place to voice their opinIon and talk about issues concerning our environment around the world.
9. Do you prefer working on movies or television, and are your future goals concerning your acting career?
I have been very blessed to be able to do both, and I really hope that continues. This is my first big screen debut, and I am working towards acting in more films, but I will always continue to do television. How can you not, with so many great shows on the air right now!?
10. I know I’m incredibly uncultured, but everything I know about Canada was learned from re-runs of Rocky and Bullwinkle. Are the mounties taken seriously?
That is hysterical! Yes the mounties are taken seriously, but i am from Toronto so you don’t see many there!

Whoa! She was the Woman with Martini Glass in Repo! I love that movie! And her scenes were cut out in 21?
At least she got to meet Cary Elwes!
Yeah, I know nothing about the Saw movies.
But cheers for the pretty lass!
