Win Passes To An Advance Screening of Resident Evil: Afterlife in IMAX Digital 3D!

The fourth (and probably not final) installment of the Resident Evil franchise, Resident Evil: Afterlife hits theaters September 10th; Alice is back this time she’s in IMAX Digital 3D.
While I am a huge fan of the Resident Evil video game series, I have to say I have mixed feelings about the films, which are “loosely” based on said games. While I really enjoyed the first and second film, they had enough of the game’s themes and characters to make them interesting, the third one for me just didn’t really seem like a Resident Evil film at all. And it seems like quite a few fans felt the same way.
With Afterlife, Chris and Claire Redfield, two fan favorites of the series, join the film franchise, along with Jill Valentine and Albert Wesker, the primary antagonist in the series and one of my personal favorites. The film also promises to be influenced by Resident Evil 5, and who can honestly argue with zombies in IMAX Digital 3D? I am definitely interested in checking this out and the plot synopsis of the film goes something like this:
In a world ravaged by a virus infection turns its victims into the undead, Alice (Milla Jovovich) continues on her journey to find survivors and lead them to safety. Her deadly battle with the Umbrella Corporation reaches new heights… as Alice gets some unexpected help from an old friend. A new lead that promises a safe haven takes them to Los Angeles, but when they arrive the city is overrun by thousands of undead – and Alice and her comrades are about to step into a deadly trap.
We have 20 passes for 2 to give away for a screening at the AMC Cherry Hill, for September 9th at 7:30. You’ll get to check this film out in IMAX Digital 3D. Free zombies in IMAX? Can’t beat that.
Want a pass? Simply comment with your favorite Resident Evil film and why for a chance to win. Winners will be picked and notified September 7th.

Resident Evil: Degeneration.
Reasons for watching it far beyond an appropriate quantity:
1. Leon Kennedy and Clair Redfield
2. Its astounding animated quality to the tune of flawless voice acting. Within seconds you’ve quite forgotten its animated at all.
3. Its hosted primarily in an airport terminal! Who amongst the zombie fan legion has not sat in an airport and thought “Wow, if it goes down right now I just can’t see a safe way out of this.”
4. The ending twist! Oh to spoil it now for those that haven’t delved into the animated films!
(Limiting mine to four, but do not let that deceive you that there are many more unspoken points)
Resident Evil: Degeneration It is animated with same cinema quality as the Resident Evil: 4 and 5 video game. and it just so good.
The original is still my favorite. First off Alice is just a bit more fun when even she doesn’t know what she’s capable of. But I think my bigger reason for liking it is just cause Michelle Rodriguez is just such a bad ass in any movie.
This one’s easy: Extinction.
Why? Russel Mulcahy.
Maybe the artistic sensibilities of Mulcahy are burned into my brain from growing up with films like Highlander and The Shadow, but whatever the reason, I found the cinematography to represent the post-apocalyptic wasteland better than any film I’ve seen since Mad Max, and the pacing was absolutely perfect. A fine film that followed-up two so-so movies, in my opinion.
It has to be the original. Being a fan of the game series, at least the original can be dropped somewhat into the timeline, rather then the other films which pick and choose what parts of the games that want to use each movie.
I would have to say Resident Evil 2. It felt most like the games as possible. From Jill Valintines 3rd game outfit to escaping Raccoon City. It had the zombies and tyrant! Plus when he took out STARS and he said “STARS” like only he could you know you loved it.
The first was obviously the best. I actually really enjoy it as a film. 10 Little Indians with zombies done for high concept will never get old for me. The second one lost me when the motorcycle jumped through the window. The third one wasn’t bad, but yes, wasn’t really “Resident Evily.”
Anytime I see a hallway with an impenetrable laser grid, I swoon. So I’m going to throw my vote in for RE1. Also, let’s keep Alice in those red dresses.

Resident Evil: Extinction. How could it not be the best? It combined everything we love about Alice, the Umbrella Corporation AND zombies! The fact that there’s a scene in which a zombie is crawling up a giant tower in attempts to kill them is pretty awesome. Oh & the fact that it’s in Vegas and the zombies came bursting out of a trailer- AWESOME.
@geekadelphia i’m a HUGE fan, i hope i win tickets!!
The original because its a classic.. call me old fashioned
The original is my favorite…loved the game.
Resident Evil 2:
Because Jill Valentine is a total babe.
@kristenlubbe and WE’RE huge fans of your writing on @AptTherapy! Clearly we should be better friends.
Resident Evil: Extinction – It ended with like a thousand Milla Jovavitch’s. Zombies or not, that’s a perfect world.
@geekadelphia clearly! (as odd as it sounds, clearly is my favorite word)!
I love them all because zombies effing rule! This want my be the best though because 3D zombies > 2D zombies.
The original fits in so well with the games, but any movie rocks because it has zombies in it!
I like in Resident Evil: Apocalypse when the zombies are closing in on the truck and Cousin Day-Day is all “I got the BGs” to Ardeth Bay and Ardeth is all “What’s the BGs?” and Day-Day is all “The bubble guts, I’m nervous and bout to shit myself.” And then he turns into a zombie and bites Bay and glitter and shit comes out like a Y2K bootleg Twinkie but not before a bunch of beetles come out of a giant sand mouth guy.
OH WAIT MY BAD I MIXED MY FAVORITE CHARACTER ACTORS UP WITH DIFFERENT EVENTS FROM PREVIOUS MOVIES THEY STARRED IN.
No but seriously, Mike Epps & Oded Fehr were awesome together and I wish they had more screen time.
The first one. Red dress.
The original film is probably the best live action. It’s been said before, but you really can’t go wrong with Michelle Rodriguez. Her standard character elevates most movies.
I’m also a big fan of the Resident Evil: Degeneration movie. Some of the CGI zombie moments are really fantastically done.
Dear Geekadelphia,
Clearly, my favorite Resident Evil film is the one where Milla Jovovich has the orange hair and the white strappy outfit… oh wait..nvm
I’d have to say RE 2 – Apocalypse because of the escape from NY/LA feel to it (despite it’s lack of orange hair and white strappy outfits.)
I have to say I love all the Resident Evil movies, I have the whole collection and I even started collecting the toy collectibles which are awesome.. Can’t wait to see this new Resident evil… This would be a great gift for my Fiances B-day which is September 10th…
Definitely the first movie . Loads of fun to watch. Still nothing as good though as the hallway in the first game when the dogs jumped through the window…first game that actually made me jump.
The fourth movie is going to be the best i bet because it has taken its Avatar through Avatar’s 3D cameras and am sure Like Avatar I SEE RE 4 AfterLife inspired by the game and is not short of fame hope they live up to Avatar’s name I see RE 4 afterlife in my life
Although I think that the first movie is the most faithful, I think the Apocalypse is the best of the three because it combines so many great elements of the game, and humour, and the pure kickassness of Nemesis. Also, Apocalypse added much needed pathos with some excellent characters. Definitely a great movie.
P.S. I can’t make it out to Cherry Hill, I just wanted to add my two cents about which movie is the best. Have fun y’all!
Definitely the first one, it was most true to the books, nemesis in the second won looked ridiculous and the third one was a little weird, but this next one looks great.
and by books I meant games.
The original was my favorite, because it’s a good film overall, not just for fans of the game.
Even though I like the second one because it answered a lot of questions I had (which could have been answered if I played the game) I have to go with the original. “You’re all going to die down here” was my facebook status for a week lol but my favorite part was the elevator scene.
The first Resident Evil is by far my favorite.
Michelle Rodriguez kicking zombie ass, The Hive slicing them into cross-sectional pieces with lasers.
The Red Queen is also hardcore awesome in this one.
Hopefully the new installment will be half as good as the first film. Looking forward to it.
I really would love to win for my husband he’s a big Milla Jovoich and Resident Evil fan!!! and he would be so happy if i won these so please help a sista out!!
)
the first one was the best so far…its where were first introduce to the characters. and there’s plenty of zombies, gore, and the soundtrack is awesome too.
Resident Evil: Extinction … #1 REASON Milla other than that I liked it more because it contains the plot and suspense the first film had and the action the second film had. Perfect combo! The story is beyond amazing, Very creepy in a way yet totally awesome for the people in the theater watching it all play out. An apocalyptic world with few human survivors banding together, fighting, traveling etc. to try to find a place of safety from the infection and all the dangers that come with it. It seemed to be more alive too because it was my first Blue Ray movie on my new HDTV. wink.
I’ve always been a fan of resident evil, and I think Milla has done an amazing job as alice and my favorite Resident Evil movie would have to Resident Evil: Apocalypse. The blood, guts, and zombies have been fun to watch especially watching alice become more bad ass with each movie. Winning those passes to see it in 3D would be would definitely be treat that I wouldn’t forget.
The original is my favorite.
The build up to the first movie based on this game was intense. I knew they couldn’t make a straight movie version of the game and they had to deviate a bit. But they made it work in a universe all their own and I did not come away disappointed.
The original, hopefully this one becomes my new favorite.
I have always been partial to the first. Dont get me wrong the others are great but nothing compares. I am hoping this one gives it a run for its money!! YAY 3-D!!
I prefer the first one mainly because of the atmosphere of suspense that it created from not knowing what was around the corner that I personally think perfectly mirrored the source materials that I have followed from its debut on the original play station although the experience wasn’t fully utilized it was still a valiant effort here’s hoping that this one lives up to its predecessors
Witch it totally will
The original was the best. At the time it was a fresh revival to a tired horror/zombie genre. Milla was amazing as was the supporting cast. It introduced the world of Resident Evil well and really left you wanting more! I am excited to see the new one
I would say Resident Evil: Apocalypse
1. In this movie, we experience a whole new level of Alices abilities
2. Nemesis is shown, and he is an important figure in the video games
3. We meet Jill Valentine, a STARS member, also from the video game
4. In the movie, there is a sense of horror, action, and also comedy from L.J that allows this movie to be unlike any other zombiem ovie.
The first of the Resident Evils will always be a horror/sci-fi classic. The laser scene as they approached the queen’s chamber would have been amazing in 3D. Can’t wait to see what Afterlife has to offer.
