Girl Plays a Harp on a SEPTA Train

I know we’ve all been witness to copious amounts of SEPTA fail in our lives as Philadelphians, but sometimes, just sometimes something magical happens in our generally unpleasant mass transit experience.
I was coming home from covering Inochicon where I was recording the Reni Mimura concert on the 570 R5 Landsdale/Doylestown Regional Rail, and a girl got on the train… with a harp.
Now I thought the fact that the girl was carrying around the harp was crazy enough and due to the sheer size of the thing. Everyone on the train was openly fascinated with the instrument and the conductor joked that she should play a song, and everyone sort of chimed in and agreed.
She eventually relented and played a short set of 3 short songs. I got her name afterward… Paige Setzer. Thank you Paige.
Another Song After the Jump!

Girl plays a mean harp on a SEPTA train. How awesome. http://geekadelphia.com/2010/08/30/girl-... cc @septawatch @phillyist
This is so awesome! I think most people are just dying to have something awesome and unexpected happen to shake up the daily routine. Like a woman playing the harp on the subway! Great stuff.
Well the world can’t get much smaller, I went to high school with Paige! I’ll make sure she knows this post is here!
Paige played at our wedding at Morris Arboretum almost three years ago and she did a great job!
That’s really cool. I remember seeing your twitpic from that evening about the girl with the harp. Never expected her to actually play it on the train. That thing must weigh a ton.

This is terrific, but that guy who asked how much the instrument was worth was really annoying. (Apologies if this is you Dan). Anyways, thanks for posting this.
Nope, wasn’t me. Me and the attendant were actually joking about kicking that guy off because he got more annoying after the first round of songs.
This bit reminded me that Curtis Publishing Company used to bring classical groups in to play for their employees in their lunch room in Philadelphia.
this is awesome.
