Meet Star Trek’s Jeri Ryan at the Official East Coast Star Trek Convention

Jeri Ryan as 7 of 9

William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy might be two of the most recognizable people from all of Star Trek, but Jeri Ryan isn’t too far behind them. Okay, you may not know her name right off the bat, but I’m sure you recognize the blonde bombshell Borg pictured above. Yeah, that’s her. Eyes back on the article now please. Thank you.

Anyway, Jeri Ryan, who played 7 of 9 on Star Trek: Voyager, is making a rather rare appearance at this year’s Official East Coast Star Trek Convention. It is being held at the Hilton Parsippany, in Parsippany, New Jersey on August 13 – 15. I know it is a bit of a hike from Philly, but totally worth it if you consider yourself a Trekkie, and it is a “must attend” event if you consider yourself a Voyager fan.

More after the jump!

Of course, 7 of 9 isn’t the only Star Trek guest at the convention (even if she’s probably going to be the most popular). Also making appearances are George Takei (Sulu), Nana Visitor (Kira), Armin Shimerman (Quark), Jeffrey Combs (too many to list), Jennifer Lien (Kes), Ethan Phillips (Neelix), Casey Biggs (Damar), Max Grodenchik (Rom), and Vaughn Armstrong (Admiral Forrest).

I should point out that these celebrities are each appearing one day only, so be sure to consult the convention website for the specifics.

There are still tickets available at all levels. The Gold Weekend Package is $369, but it includes the best seating in the house for all three days and includes everyone’s autograph except George Takei’s. On the other end of the spectrum are the one-day only general admission passes, which range from $20 to $25, depending on the day.

Creation Entertainment is the company hosting the Official East Coast Star Trek Convention. They have a rather unique policy about sales that I think is worth mentioning. Basically, they only sell as many tickets at they have seats. It means you are guaranteed a place to sit in the ballroom for all of the main events (which is essentially the opposite of a convention like San Diego Comic-Con).

For more information, visit Creation’s Official East Coast Star Trek Convention website! A partial schedule has already been posted, along with a full price list for autographs and photo opportunities with the guests. Looks like it’s going to be a great event!

I made the trip up to the “Official East Coast” Star Trek Con a couple years back, and it was by far one of the saddest Cons I’ve ever attended. Never again, unless of course T’Pol makes an appearance.

I’ve never attended a Creation con before, much less this one in particular. What made it “sad”? Poor turn out? Lack of programming?

Poor turn out and a dismal ballroom which held the dealer’s room. Also the fact that you needed to pre-order tickets for every signing and “event” which that year was Shatner made the spontaneous trip near impossible to enjoy.
