Win Passes to an Advance Screening of SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD!
Alright Geeks, I have 25 passes to what is looking to be one of the most epic comic book films of the summer… Scott Pilgrim VS. The World. The film doesn’t hit theaters until Friday, August 13th, but thanks to the kind folks at Universal Pictures you will have a chance to see the film an entire week before it opens, giving you serious bragging rights and some legit geek-cred as well.
If you’re not familiar with Scott Pilgrim and you’re reading this blog, Google is the only one who can save you from the lifetime of shame you would have to live with if you admitted this in front of others. Just sayin’.
But, for the rest of you… here are the deets. The screening will take place August 4th at the United Artist King of Prussia Theater at 7:30.
Want a pass for 2 to check out Scott Pilgrim? I am going to do this two ways. You can either submit a piece of epic Scott Pilgrim fan-art to dan@geekadelphia.com or submit a comment explaining a.) why you’re too lazy to draw a picture and b.) what your favorite Scott Pilgrim book is and why.
The contest will end Friday July 30th, and I will be contacting the winners on Monday the 2nd.
If you can’t draw don’t worry, I wont be judging fan-art on likeness but for effort. Open up Illustrator, break-out MS Paint, reinstall KidPix, draw something by hand and scan it… whatever! If we get some good ones we might just post ‘em here. Wink wink, nudge nudge.
Fanart submissions are guaranteed tickets till I run out, enough said!
Good luck and check out the trailer below!

Draw? I can make up tons of reasons why I’m too lazy to do that. For one I’ve been working 60 hour work weeks for the past month! I’ve been on a short term assignment and haven’t seen my GF in 30 days. I’m only home for one week and would love to see the movie with her. [she's read all of the books too]
My favorite book? by far is #6. I appreciated the ronin aspect of his introspective walks in the canadian wilderness. For some reason I really connected with it. Not to mention the epic bus ride back to town. (:
Thanks for the chance! :: fingers crossed ::
I’m not one for drawing – I think I’m doing everyone a favor by not even trying. I can tell you what my favorite book is though. It would have to be book 2 just because of the EPIC battle between Knives and Ramona. Had me chuckling the entire day!!!
I can’t draw well- and even though O’Malley’s artwork “looks” simple, it would be too difficult for me to emulate.
That said, Vol. 5, Vs. The Universe was definitely my favorite, in that (spoilers?) it really made me feel the frustration and sadness that Scott was going through, as a result of his omission of details to Ramona and Knives, his kind of empty life (though free apartment, yay!), and Ramona’s decision at the end. The terribly sad waiting on/for the cat was Extra painful- and I wasn’t sure if that was possible for this graphic novel series.
I do not want to enter the contest, but this movie is going to ROCK! I cannot wait to see it on the 13th!
It would be embarrassing to try and draw on a epic level, I lack the that kind of skill
For some reason I missed out on the drawing at BNW, so I am going to draw something. And then I am going to win.
I’m too lazy to draw a picture because I recently switched shifts at work and now leave my house by 4 a.m. every morning. I think that’s a pretty good excuse.
…Also, I’m not talented in the visual arts.
im not a very good artist. im more of a science-brained person. even my stick figures look like fatties.
i only read the first 2 and they were both equally awesome. i guess i liked vs the world a little better because of the skateboard contest with lee and the fight with ramona and knives.
One simple reason: Mac OS X doesn’t have Paint.
Would Scott Pilgrim himself use up the energy to draw? Absolutely not! He’d forget about it and go back to playing a video game. Thus, I am emulating him.
My favorite book in the series is Volume 3: Scott Pilgrim & The Infinite Sadness. It’s my personal favorite because of the fact that Envy Adams and Todd Ingram are probably the best villains of the series. All of the flashbacks do a great job setting things up so that when the fighting finally starts, you’re ready to see these two get what they deserve. Also, the line: “Gelato, bitch!”
First and foremost, I’m lazy about everything. More RECENTLY, I haven’t been too lazy, rather just consumed by a project I’m working on. I’m playing percussion in a pit band for a local theater production. The hardest part is, I CAN’T READ MUSIC. SO! I’ve been spending hours a day listening to the soundtrack (Which is DIFFERENT THAN THE LIVE SHOW SOMETIMES, FFFFUUUUUU) and making notations in my music book.
I’d love to see scoot pilgram. It comes out on my birthday, but being able to see it a week early would be an AWESOME present, and a sigh of relief for at least one night until this show opens.
I just wanted to say LMAO KidPix
Hello. As much as I love pixel art (and I do! I really do!), I am too lazy because I just ate a gigantic cheese steak. Go Philly!
But seriously, the best book for me will forever be book 1. Nothing beats the magic of when I first was introduced to Bryan O’Malley’s incredible universe.
i just want to sleep and watch movie. i love every book
i dont want to move at all
just want to watch movies
i don”t want to pick up any pen
i don’t want to do anything
i just want to watch the movie
Why am I too lazy to draw a picture? Besides just being really lazy? Well after missing an entire semester of school because I was in a constant state of near-death at the Hospital of UPenn (35 days straight plus nearly daily trips back after I was released), I’m making up my missed classes with a full load of summer classes (thank Jeebus for Temple summer sessions). And after being so sick for so long (and getting a really major surgery) all the school work is really tiring me out.
All that plus Scott would never take the time to draw either.
My favorite book has to be #6. The art is easily the best (the great thing about the series is seeing O’Malley’s art improve substantially from book to book) and it has a ton of great emotional beats, while also managing to be really, really funny. The ending is really touching and beautiful. Plus, CASUAL SEX!!!
I’d draw if I weren’t too busy laughing over my own absurd ideas of what to draw. And planning out my first comic effort and trying to not suck too terribly playing TF2 with naught but a touch pad. Otherwise, there would likely be an ad for Bacon, the newest scent from Wallace Wells, floating around the internet and I’m pretty sure it’s been done already.
Drawing just isn’t my thing…
Many months ago, I met a very attractive skirt sporting goggle wearing pleasant pixie of a lady. She had a superfluous supply of charisma, beauty and humor with just the right tinge of cynicism. When she spoke, it was like listening to Carla Gillis sing. She was “the bees knees” as they say. I couldn’t get her out of my head. I saw her everywhere. Even after that messy business with Natalie, I decided to put myself out there again, and try to get to know this new girl.
We talked, at first awkwardly. I think she thought I was crazy or something the first time we met. Really, I was just kind of smitten. After some trickery, I talked her into a date. It was amazing! She actually liked me too! Still, something seemed off.
I couldn’t place it exactly, but as I got to know her, an ominous feeling and danger seemed to be lurking around every corner. I started getting a lot more junk mail from random people trying to sell me who knows what. If I were smart, I would have stayed quietly at home with Wallace, playing some video games. Either that, or practicing with the band.
What can I say, I’m stubborn? Despite warnings from literally EVERYONE, I kept going after this girl anyway. Of course, I got hurt. Well, not in the way you’re thinking. Yes, there was some drama, but it’s mostly the fighting that hurts. Oh no, not with her! She’s pretty swell. Her ex just keeps getting in the way. Exes to be exact.
That brings me to the present. Apparently, her exes have some issues with her. It explains all of the suspicions of something being wrong. Anyway, I’m kind of still trying to make this girl mine and I’ve got a few ways to do it. It absolutely would not hurt to start by taking her to see the Scott Pilgrim movie. Alas, I can’t really afford to as I have to pay for some damages to the local Honest Ed’s…man, that place is such a hell hole. Even without that, I barely have enough for rent and share a bed with my roommate! I’d love to enter your drawing contest, but hurt my sketching arm in a fight with one of that girl’s exes (who would have thought vegans would be so tough, what with the lack of protein and all?). So, what do you say? Can you help a guy win a girl with some tickets?
Thanks,
S.P.
(P.s. – I hear the second book of that Pilgrim series may be the best, if only for that pie recipe. Vegan or not, it’s delicious)
So how’s this for a reason to help me win the tickets. Just this week I said ‘Yes’ and am now properly engaged! What better way to celebrate than by going to a great movie!
I’ll admit though, I’ve only finished book one of Scott Pilgrim. Is it my favorite, You betcha! I guess I have some catching up before the movie though…
Thanks for running the contest!
I’m too lazy to draw because Otakon just sapped all my artistic energy this past weekend.
Too lazy to draw because my preschooler wears me out. I would say my favorite book would be the first book. First one’s always the best.
