Win a Passes to an Advance Screening of Repo Men!
Repo Men starring Jude Law and Forest Whitaker is a movie I have been looking forward to for quite some time now, it was shot back in 2007 and after much delay is finally seeing the light of day Friday March 19th. Some feel the delay was in part due to the studio waiting to release the film at a later date to limit confusion with another Repo Men like film, Repo! The Genetic Opera. While some people might feel Repo Men is a simply a knock off of Darren Smith’s modern opera masterpiece, one must have to keep in mind not only were both films shot at the same time, but they were also edited in the same production suite as well.
The script for Repo Men actually dates back to late 2003. Screenwriters Eric Garcia and Garrett Lerner began collaborating with director Miguel Sapochnik on a script -based on a novel that was being written by Garcia at the time. In June 2007 production on the film started with Jude Law attached, and the novel has since been published as of March 31, 2009. The plot of the film goes something like this:
In the future you can buy a longer life – engineered organs are available, but at a hefty price. Spare parts are a big business and if you can’t make your payments it’s the Repomen’s job to re-possess them at any cost. Jude law plays a repoman who after an accident receives a new heart and lease on life. With the tables now turned he can no longer bring himself fulfill his duties now that the shoe is on the other foot. Now he is the one who is on the run from the repomen, because his bill is past due.
Enter after the Jump!
I loved the trailer for the film and I can’t wait to see Repo Men! There seems to be a really great dark humor at work in the trailer, which I hope translates to the film. Geekadelphia is teaming with Universal Pictures for an advance screening Tuesday March 16 at 7:30pm. We have 30 passes for two available for this advance screening. All you have to do for a chance to win is comment with your favorite Jude Law film. Me personally I have to say AI is my personal favorite, I thought for him it was a very different role and I loved that film contrary to popular belief. Deadline for entries is March 11!

I’m really looking forward to this film, as well! I would have said that AI was also my Jude Law favorite, but he did a kick-ass job in Sherlock Holmes, so now I’m torn…
I would like to see this film. My favorite JL film has to be Road to Perdition, he played a great villain in that film.
I think my favorite might be I Heart Huckabees. I am very interested to see this movie tho
Easily, and definitely Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, an unfairly maligned film. I love every single frame of it.
Enemy at the Gates. Hands Down.
While I liked Jude in both AI & Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, my favorite role of his to date is his portrayal of Dr. Watson in Sherlock Holmes.
Enemy at the Gates is an amazing movie, but his performance as crotchety wheelchair bound traitor Jerome in Gattaca wins hands down.
I never saw AI, but now I’m thinking I might have to since everyone liked it so much. Closer is my favorite but the main 4 characters are just amazing in that movie. Another fave is Sleuth.
my favorite Jude Law movie is “Road to Perdition”. he was creepy in it as the crime scene photographer/assasin. that, and the movie was so good it’s a sin to be underrated.
The Talented Mr. Ripley of course! Very underrated movie.
What – no love for eXistenZ?
Without a doubt, my fave Jude Law film is Gattaca. Not only is the story awesome but Law did such a great job portraying Jerome.
eXistenZ. Underrated in the extreme, wonderful predictor of WoW and other memes.
Juude Law was great in Sherlock Holmes!!
Jude Law was great in Sherlock Holmes!! Can’t wait to see it on DVD
Enemy at the Gates, always and forever! <3 I loved Repo! The Genetic Opera and had no idea that this movie was similar. Very interesting.

A.I.
Just cut out the last 10 min and it’s a great film
All the Kings Men is my favoret movie.
here’s another vote for A.I.
Closer is definitely my favorite film with Jude Law- as Horrible a person his character was
Became interested when I watched the trailer. Now I am very anxious to see the film.
Loved Sherlock Holmes!
The Aviator. Only one scene as Errol Flynn, but stole it completely.
Repo! The Genetic Opera was a stage play back in the 90s before it was ever a short or feature-length film. I’m past the point of arguing Repo! v. Repo Men, but some of the similarities (a drug called Q that glows red as opposed to a drug whose name is abbreviated to Z and glows blue? hard to look past) are still a little… glaring.
Anywhoodle. If ya’ll are ever interested, the Repo! The Genetic Opera shadowcast to which I belong, the Midnight Surgeons, will finally be performing in our hometown of Philly in April. I’d love to send a blurb or… something? your way. We’ve been in Phillpsburg and Bloomfield, NJ for the past year and perform at Jeff Mach’s Wicked Faire on a yearly basis. We’re also going to be at MonsterMania this weekend, too.
This film seems to be another future thought provoker. Of course not seeing it yet I am a bit confused on why they dont take the Whole body back and harvest “ALL” the organs. perhaps “THEY” dont think they really own them. but if the world is that bad, and people are needing hearts lungs livers kidneys… from other people then it would seem to aid them if they harvested the “WHOLE PLANT” not just the liver.we will see how my preimptive thought plays out… perhaps they have an answer… none the less cant wait to go see it.

my favorite is Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow. not because it was a wonderful movie but because it reminded me of my grandfather and what they would think of as futuristic…
