Win Tickets to an Advance Screening of Green Zone

Green Zone, the new film Starring Matt Damon comes out March 12; and Geekadelphia in cooperation with Universal pictures have your passes to an advance screening March 9th! Green Zone re-teams Matt Damon with director Paul Greengrass or the Bourne Supremacy and Bourne Ultimatum fame. The plot of the film goes something like this:

During the U.S.-led occupation of Baghdad in 2003, Chief Warrant Officer Roy Miller (Damon) and his team of Army inspectors were dispatched to find weapons of mass destruction believed to be stockpiled in the Iraqi desert.  Rocketing from one booby-trapped and treacherous site to the next, the men search for deadly chemical agents but stumble instead upon an elaborate cover-up that inverts the purpose of their mission.

Spun by operatives with intersecting agendas, Miller must hunt through covert and faulty intelligence hidden on foreign soil for answers that will either clear a rogue regime or escalate a war in an unstable region.  And at this blistering time and in this combustible place, he will find the most elusive weapon of all is the truth.

I actually got to see the trailer for this at the beginning of The Wolfman, and it looked like a very interesting thriller to say the least. I had read the director had some reservations about a fourth Bourne film, but I think this film with tide fans over until everything is worked out and we get another entry into the Bourne franchise. The screening will take place on Tuesday, March 9th at 7:30 PM at the Ritz Five, and the first 30 people to comment with their favorite Matt Damon film will win a pass for two. So comment below and check out the trailer.

Writers of Geekadelphia and their families are not eligible for prizes.Limit one entry per person. No cameras, camera phones, or other recording devices permitted in screening. Seating is on a first come, first serve basis. Theatre capacity is limited and passes won do not guarantee seating.(So show up early!) Theater is not responsible for overbooking. My fave Damon film is The Talented Mr. Ripley. He did an excellent job replacing Jude.

I can’t say that I was as adverse to The Brothers Grimm as others may be these days, but it was an enjoyable movie to watch nonetheless. Besides, it’s got Heath Ledger in it as well…

my favorite Matt Damon movie is The Bourne Supremacy. love how they changed an important part of the plot from the book to provide the motivation for Jason Bourne’s character in his pursuit for the truth.

I’ll say “The Bourne Identity”. I love the whole Bourne trilogy, but that one really set it off right.

I also love “The Talented Mr. Ripley”. Some creepy shit going on in that one for sure!

For me it’s easily his work in the Oceans’s movies. Even though I think they get worse with each incarnation it’s still funny stuff.

Tie between oceans movies, bourne movies, and the departed. He’s an all-around great actor.

Dogma is probably my favorite Matt Damon movie. It was before he did Bourne and most of his more serious roles. But his cameo in EuroTrip is my favorite clip of him ever. ‘Scottie Doesn’t Know’ is definitely on my iPod.

I have to go with The Bourne Identity because it reinvigorated the spy/thriller genre for me. It got back to the basics of thriller plot with the technical merits, editing, and pacing of modern film. And super-worked-out Damon eye candy of course.

I have to say, despite it being a remake, The Departed was my favorite Matt Damon film. Probably one of my favorite films of recent years, actually.

I have to go with the Bourne Trilogy, this movie will be awesome Damon+Greengrass=I’m going to love it.

I would say “Stuck on You” but then you’d have to shoot me. No, I’ll go with an often-overlooked minor classic, “The Rainmaker” directed by Francis Ford Coppola. Not Damon’s best, which have been well cataloged above, but a pretty damn good movie – how bad can it be with a cast that includes Claire Danes, Danny DeVito, Danny Glover, Mickey Rourke & Jon Voight?

I’d have to go with Dogma, if for no other reason than the scene with him messing with the nun.
