Saturday: Xbox Gaming Tournament @ Indy Hall

Attention Philly Gamers! Do you play Modern Warfare 2? Has laying waste to n00bs on Xbox Live lost it’s excitement? If you think so, then perhaps it’s time for a little change of pace. Come see if you’ve got what it takes to claim the number one spot in Old City at Indy Hall this Saturday.

We will have at least 4 boxes set up for a couple hours of casual gaming followed up by a Modern Warfare 2 Tournament, the winner of which will be taking home a brand new wireless Xbox 360 controller compliments of Geekadelphia!

Sponsors of the event include Red Bull, who will be providing us with some free energy drinks, for those of you who like to juice up before going into battle.

Put on your game face and roll over to Indy Hall this Saturday at 1pm for some fun times with some familiar faces, as well as some new ones.

If you plan on attending please RSVP here at the Anyvite page. Only 30 spots left! Do it now!

I just found this website through http://phillynewsfeeds.com/, I’m going on vacation Saturday but hopefully you guys have more of these. It’d be cool to meet some other gamers in the city. I skipped over MW2 because i only have a 32″ LCD and have a hard time seeing the enemies in the call of duty games so i’m Halo player (red vs blue for life).

would be nice to see a halo tourney :)

Are there any more details about the tournament?
Are we required/can we bring our own controller/headphones/harddrive etc. Or is everyone just starting at level 1?

I hope you guys plan on doing another little tournament like this with MW2. I already have plans for this Saturday! :(

Mark, sorry you can’t join us! We will definitely get some Halo together in the near future and there will likely be some Halo during free play this Saturday.

Jake, you asked some very good questions. As it turns out MW2 isn’t very LAN friendly. For example you can play 4 player split, but not on a LAN. You are more than welcome to bring any gear you’d like. Headphones/Harddrive are geared towards one player being on a box at a given time, as opposed to more. If we start at level 1 we can utilize the preset classes (which is far from optimal for those of us who have spent hours tweaking our classes) so we will likely use people’s unlocks which means bringing harddrives and recovering accounts. Again, not very LAN friendly, but we will make it work. =)

Really excited about this weekend, can’t wait to meet some fellow Philly Gamers!

    Mervin,

We will most definitely be hosting more tournaments in the future so long as the community shows interest and thus far that doesn’t seem to be a problem. =)

Is it possible to stop by even if you don’t intend on playing in the tourny? I don’t really play MW2.

  7. Parker February 16, 2010 at 1:20 pm #

Chris absolutely just RSVP using the link above and show up. =)

    It’s all about fun.

Where are these tournaments usually held? I would love to finally compete in a Halo 3 tournament and could bring some friends along to finally meet philadelphia gamers.

  9. Dave February 16, 2010 at 6:56 pm #

Question: Are we allowed to bring beer?

  10. Glenn February 16, 2010 at 8:42 pm #

Oh and one more thing, would there be a guarantee of the tournament hosting a little Halo 3 gameplay? I really dont play MW2 but my friends do a lot.

Thanks a lot! (sry for the spam)^^

    Glenn,

This is the first one and unless a better venue pops up Old City appears to be the destination. However it would be nice to find a place with better parking available for those who drive.

We will definitely have a Halo Tournament in the near future and we will absolutely be playing some casual halo at this event as well. Be sure to bring your copy. =)

    As for Dave…

Don’t think it didn’t cross my mind but given the venue that won’t be possible. In the future I will definitely seek out a venue where beer is on the menu.

Lovin’ the excitement, see you on Saturday!

We don’t need to bring our consoles to the event, do we? I’ll be looking forward to MW2 and Halo. I’m surprised too they’re still Halo fans around; its nice to see even w/ the annoying glitches MW2 brings on live.

I’ll definately also be tuned into any future halo 3 tournaments for prizes or to just have fun. Do you have an indicator where we could send you our email for a notice for events?

    Oh and nice website, PEACE.

No Zaak, no consoles necessary. Just RSVP and you’re all set.

Actually I have 8 consoles lined up at the moment as opposed to the original 4 as MW2 has turned out to be horribly anti-LAN.

Halo, on the other hand, is extremely LAN friendly and will therefore make throwing the next Tournament together much easier.

I’m going to email you my contact info now for future event notices.

    Parker, Dave,

I’m willing to get this going at Hive76, this will allow for beer! We only have one TV, and no 360′s.

    See you Sat.!

    Fynflood,

Come to this Saturday’s tourney and we’ll talk about Hive76 as a future venue.

I’ve been meaning to go check the space out regardless as Brian Glusman has told me about it.

    See you Saturday. =)

You’re lucky this is an Xbox tourney! If you played on the far superior PS3 platform you’d all be dead meat. Curses!
