Enter to Win Advance Passes To See The Wolfman, Courtesy of Universal Pictures

I love the old black and white Universal Monster films, and when I heard they were going to remake the 1941 classic The Wolf Man I was intrigued to say the least. As the cast and crew began to line up for this one it became even more intriguing. First was the casting of Benicio del Toro to star in the film as the title character The Wolfman, he is known around Hollywood as an avid fan of the original and a collector of Wolf Man memorabilia. Rounding out this great cast and co-starring in the film opposite Benicio is the great Anthony Hopkins, Hugo Weaving and Emily Blunt. The next interesting piece was the writer, Andrew Kevin Walker who was well known as writing one of the greatest films of all time in my opinion Se7en and he followed that up with the equally ambitious and disturbing 8mm. The film is directed by Joe Johnston; who got his start doing effects work on the original Star Wars trilogy and was responsible for some great family films such as Jumanji, Honey I Shrunk the Kids and the very underrated The Rocketeer.
If that alone hasn’t peaked your interest in this film, along came the trailer at San Diego Comicon last year; which cemented the fact that this was going to be a film to watch. Well the film opens Friday February 12 is rated R, and guess who has got your free passes to an advance screening? You guessed it, Geekadelphia! Thanks to Universal Pictures, the passes will be for a screening to be held on February 9 at 7:30, and we have 30 passes for two people each to give away! All you have to do is comment with your favorite monster film old or new school and we will pick the winners Sunday February 7th. These passes will be emailed to the winners in time for the screening, good luck!

My favorite monster film is Army of Darkness. That counts right?
Recently, my favorite is Zombieland (zombies are monsters too, right?)
For childhood movies, Willow keeps coming to mind. “Kill the beast, find the baby!”. Are beasts monsters?
I’m going with Young Frankenstein! Can’t beat a monster singing and dancing!
Oliver Stone’s W.
The Blob!! I’m still freaked out by overly obese people because of it!
Scream now, while there’s still room to breathe.
This is definitely an old-school pic (for me anyway, since I was a kid when it came out), but Monster Squad is one of my favorite monster movies. No, it’s not scary, but it’s full of silly, Goonie-esque humor. Plus, any movie that has Dracula, Frankenstein, Wolfman, AND the mummy can’t be too bad. Oh, and the line “Wolfman got nards!” is a classic.
Haha The Wook’s should just get all the passes for that. I’ve got to go with Starship Troopers.
The monster from Bong Joon-ho’s “The Host.”
The original Ridley Scott “Alien” from ’79. So good.
I dont know if this counts as a monster movie but one of my fav movies as a child was Termors ^_^
Gojira!
Creature From The Black Lagoon is straight up the OG of monster movies. When you see that webbed hand for the first time? Still gives me shivers.
Also, I am apparently 90 years old since I remember Creature From The Black Lagoon.
INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS
“Can’t you see!? They’re already here!”
Ultraman Mobius and the Ultraman Brothers
The Tim Conway/Don Knotts juggernaut, Private Eyes
fright night
Nice giveaway! My favorite monsters movie is An American Werewolf in London.
Nice giveaway! My favorite monster movie is An American Werewolf in London.
Oh easy one, The Fly, Jeff Goldblum… is scary even when he isnt turning into a fly.
My favorite the “Carpet Monster” from The Creeping Terror…better known through MST3K
Definitely like The Fly, as Sean mentioned, but the campiness of the Toxic Avenger is cringingly awesome.
As a child, Smokey the Bear scared me. Would run behind the couch when he was on TV. Still not all that fond of him — no plans to go camping in the woods anytime soon.
I’m going to stay with my man Benecio here and go with his legandary performance as Duke the Dog-Faced Boy in Big Top Pee-Wee. I’d like to think that he enjoyed this role so much that he spent his career just waiting for the opportunity to play a hairy creature again.
My favorite is Cloverfield. I fell in love with the concept of telling the story through the people on the ground.
The Evil Dead II without a doubt! It doesn’t get a whole lot better than that. The Thing (1982 remake) is such a close second though……..I’m hoping that this movie reminds me of why I fell in love with horror movies and monsters in the first place!
my favorite nite of the living dead
teen wolf
the bold
scream
John Carpenter’s “The Thing”. When the dude’s head grows spider legs and starts crawling away I break out into full on heebie-jeebie mode.
I can only pick one?! Today I’ll go with the wild, mutant-filled Tokyo Gore Police. Ask me tomorrow & you’ll get a totally different answer.
“Eight Legged Freaks”, which has laughts, thrills and MONSTERS!
Jaws is my old fave. Shrek would be my new fav. Just cuz he’s not scary doesn’t mean he isn’t technically a monster!
The Blob is a classic. Gotta love Attack of the Killer Tomatoes
My favorite older monster is the Wolfman, more recent one would be Stripe from Gremlins
‘The Host’ was monstrous, and certainly my fave.
guilty pleasure: Candyman!
twilight new moon
George A. Romero’s “Land of the Dead”, which tells the heart warming misadventure of a ragtag crew of zombies learning to walk, talk and shoot guns to fight for their dreams of eating all the brains.
Aside from a weak sub-plot of some human bickering in a tower, this film let us learn, and laugh with some truly identifiable brain-dead miscreants. Including the young zombie, the leader zombie, the girl zombie, and the zombie with the power of heart.
My favorite monster movie is “It”.
mine is monster squad or the classic creature from the black lagoon
My personal fav will always be Dracula (1931)
(after that comes The Phantom 1925)
My favorite would have to be Van Helsing.
the giant claw
the way that you walked was thorney through no fault of your own, but as the rain enters the soil the river enters the sea so tears run to a predestined end. your suffering is over now you will find peace. Maria Ospenskaya as the Maleva.
My fav. The Wolfman.
