Sorry, you can only get one.

Game over! Congrats to Missy! Expect your guitar in the mail this week!

Currently, Pepsi and Harmonix have a summer promotion going on, entitled Drink Up, Rock Out. Gamers can submit their own Rock Band music videos for a chance to win an MTV Video Music Award. No, seriously. It’s for Best Performance in a Pepsi Rock Band Video, which is way better than those ‘lifetime achievement awards’ they dish out. Poor Clint Howard.

They’re giving away 5,000 Rock Band downloadable tracks every day until September 13th, as well as a wealth of other Rock Band goodies under the caps of Pepsi bottles.

As a means to promote this, Pepsi and Harmonix send me this ridiculously nice, limited edition XBox 360 Rock Band guitar, designed by Matt Moore. They were limited to a run of 30 and come complete with a signed seal on the back. And despite my love for all that is limited edition… I’m giving it away.

So, dear Geekadelphia readers, leave a comment below, telling us your favorite experience playing Rock Band. Have a story to tell? Well, dish! We’ll select one of you at random, and you’ll enjoy a nice, limited edition guitar. Remember, they only made 30 of these. You’ll have some serious bragging rights. We’ll announce the winner next Tuesday.

Let the games begin, and a big thank you to Ana from Pepsi and Harmonix for sending this our way.

My favorite experience has to be bringing Rock Band to the giant family Thanksgiving gathering, playing a rousing game of “pass the mic and hit random select”, the mic getting to my late-50-something uncle and hitting on…”Sabotage”

I’ll never be able to listen to the Beastie Boys the same way ever again.

It’s interesting looking, that’s for sure.

In one night of Rock Band we destroyed the blinds, woke the neighbors, made our ears ring, blew my vocal cords, got rugburn on the knees, spilled beer on the xbox and stripped down to our short shorts.

But still, this cannot compare to my wedding… we said our vows and all spilled back to the in-laws house to play Rock Band until our chariot awaited.

I go to this great dive bar in NYC with live music and never knew all the lyrics to these awesome rock songs until Rock Band came into my life.
    Now I’m 27% cooler.

Rock Band is family binding time in my house! It often gets a little ugly and a little competitive :) But it’s always a good time!

Rocking out in my office after hours with my co-workers, getting tipsy. Finding out later on our bosses had installed webcams in our office and witnessed the entire drunken mess!

  18. Hartley1942 on Tuesday 23, 2009

    Hell yeah!

The best ecperience I ever had was the first one. Playing the original Rock band at a friends party til 4 AM. Rocking out on the drums all night, making tyhe “rock out rule” where if you dont rock out, you lose the instrument, and most importantly, adding the 5th instrument, backing vocals, especially in songs like Wanted Dead or Alive.

Playing Rock Band was the first time the wifey actually said that she wanted to play video games instead of me initiating it, so i was all for it.

  20. Josh Straub on Tuesday 23, 2009

My favorite thing about playing Rock Band is when you get 4 players online – something made much easier due to Rock Band 2 allowing 4 Wii consoles to connect online, versus just 2 Wiis for the Guitar Hero series.

    Very cool guitar!

Rock Band blew my freakin mind when it first hit the scene. As a drummer, I was a sceptic as to the drums with the game, but my experieces have been fantastic. One of my close friends actually came over to take a stab at my drum kit after playing RB on Hard for several months, and he was legitimately decent haha. It’s great that this game is spreading music to the masses again, and in an enjoyable, fun and AWESOME way.

So we had a bunch of friends off to celebrate my wife’s birthday, and people were getting bored with nothing to do, since they couldn’t play. So, I got out another pair of drumsticks and we added a drummer on half the drumset, then, someone took the pedal and was the bass drummer, so we had three people and we still managed to fail out on drums.

My favorite Rock Band moment happened late last summer. I had a bunch of friends over and we were rocking our socks off to nice, long set list of “The Who.” It was pretty much a usual Rock Band evening — handing off instruments and the Lager was flowing freely — but everyone was just ON. It was all going swimmingly until one of our singers went downstairs for another beer and noticed that her laptop wasn’t where she left it. Looking more closely, she noticed her purse was also missing and a couple of wallets were emptied out on the counter-top. We had been robbed! Apparently a friend had accidentally left our backdoor open and the upstairs windows were open displaying to our backyard just how hard we were rocking upstairs. So an enterprising South Philadelphia youth put two and two together and decided to relieve us of some of our possessions.

In the end it wasn’t that bad; just a crappy laptop, an old cellphone, and few bucks from the purse and wallets. It wasn’t exactly fun but it was certainly the most rock and roll moment I’ve had with Rock Band. It makes a fun story and we got the name for our Rock Band 2 band from the event — The Unlocked Door.

Any time I get to rock out with 3 of my friends is a great time.

  25. Doug on Tuesday 23, 2009

I have to admit – I’ve never played the game or played a guitar. However, my daughter can play the violin. She’s studied the notes and receives consistent A’s on her report card. I, however, do not know the difference between a violin or viola. I’m an old school gamer that still thinks Galaga is God’s gift to hyperactive kids.

So, no. I don’t have a favorite moment – other than telling everyone my kid plays for real and pressing buttons is no competition for the real thing.

  26. Art on Tuesday 23, 2009

Some friends of mine did a Rock Band competition at a con, and not only did we win we ended up in the local news. Not bad for a band whose bassist has started playing earlier that day.

  27. Lisette on Tuesday 23, 2009

Oooh Rock Band is so awesome! I love it! Hmm I suppose the best Rock Band moment I’ve had was this one particular time I was playing with five of my good friends. We were all drunk so I suppose that made it better. You’d have to be there I guess. :D

  28. Frank on Tuesday 23, 2009

My 5 year old daughter banging away on the drums yelling “i can play the drums daddy!”

  29. Dennis on Tuesday 23, 2009

My wife bought me a real guitar – but GH and RB are SO much easier!

Rock Band lives at my best friend’s house, even tho we all paid for it together. So they were telling me that they thought their neighbors were screaming out the windows for the Mr Softy truck to Shut Up. And then we got to the Linkn Park(?) song that makes you scream Shut Up over and over again. And we all realized that the neighbors had a copy of Rock Band 2, instead of having been driving insane by the Mr Softy song.

And they make me do the rapping and then bust me for my rap hands. Is that fair? I think not.

HOLD UP: Eric, can Geekadelphians enter this one? :D

this is the most boring response ever, but i have never actually played rock band before. sad sad sad. nevertheless, i love video games and the guitar looks really cool. since i don’t have rock band i won’t ruin it muahhaa!

My favorite RockBand moment was when my roommate and his soon to be girlfriend joined me in a rendition of ballroom blitz. It was both their first time and had such a great time playing, they continued until the wee hours of the morning. They started dating soon after.

I guess my vocal channeling of Brian Connolly was not as attractive as his guitar stylings.

He also owes me a rockband controller since the yellow button broke, so this would be his way of paying me back!

Trying to concentrate on playing guitar as my loud non-singy friend rapes the song sabatoge without falling over laughing. Happens every time. <3

  36. Dan Estrada on Tuesday 23, 2009

It gives me and my friends a chance to pretend we are in a real band, whether we are just messing around and trying to look cool, or actually trying.

  37. Rajiv on Tuesday 23, 2009

My best/worst Rockband moment is singing the song Freak on a Leash by Korn and doing the monkey noises at the end and destroying my voice.
