A Boy & His Blob: Screenshots Make Me Want a Wii Again

Let me start of by saying that I’ve been epically disappointed by every single game I’ve picked up for the Nintendo Wii. It seems like every game that looks awesome, ends up being horrible. After playing Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of a New World (which I preordered), I gave up. I put the Wii up on eBay with my six or seven equally craptastic games (I’m looking at you, Sim City Creator), and gave up on the system forever.

However, I’ve been reading a lot about Nintendo’s upcoming Boy & His Blob remake, and I’ve gotta say, it’s making me want to pick up a Wii again.

The screenshots are nothing short of beautiful. The hand drawn characters and backgrounds… just wow. I’ve selected some of my favorite screenshots so far and placed them after the jump. Have a look. They are really quite lovely.

This of course, begs the question… will the game actually be good? What do you think?

No wonder you were disappointed, SimCity Creator?

Hey, I had high hopes for that. The Wii seemed like a great platform for a Sim City game.

Apparently you did not experience Punch-Out, or Bit Trip Beat…. or Boom Blox.

I’m skeptical of this new Boy & His Blob game just because it’s level based instead of Metroid-esque. That was the big draw for me with the original.

Ah, this is true. I did get rid of my Wii before Punch-Out. Wasn’t a fan of Boom Blox though.

I thought Smash Bros was OK, but it had very little improvement over the Gamecube version. Eric, you’re right though, these shots look great.
