ABC unveils its remake of V

You know I have been torn about the remake of the V miniseries ever since I first caught wind of it on the internet a few months ago. On one side I am so tired of the constant stream of remakes and sequels that seems to be all that Hollywood is producing lately.  I have also heard that the original writer Kenneth Johnson will not be involved at all. Which is a shame because he has been trying to get HIS sequel to V produced, aptly titled V: the Second Generation since 2006. His sequel takes place 20 years after the events of the original miniseries and depicts a world still under visitor domination.

Instead they are choosing to ignore the original creator go with the creators of the 4400 and do a straight reboot, and after the success of Star Trek I kinda understand this logic.  Why expect everyone to do their homework when they can all get on the ride at the same time.  But V does hold a very special place in my geeky little heart, its some of the first sci-fi horror I was ever exposed to. I remember tuning into this after watching the A-Team and being totally blown away. I mean at the time I was a huge Star Wars fan, the holy trilogy was just coming out but this was different…. much different.  I mean mixing Lizards, Nazis and aliens to make the ultimate bad guys how can you loose.

More after the jump.

Yesterday ABC unveiled 2 clips of the remake with big plans in store, they are touting 4 seasons planned each spanning 13-22 episodes each.(Good luck, with the current climate of sci-fi on television) With the new clips we get to see the new female leader of the visitors Anna played by Morena Baccarin you might remember her from a little show called Firefly. These are a new twist on some scenes those familiar with V will fondly remember. Elizabeth Mitchell from Lost also makes an appearance. I have to say with this footage it does look like they are going in the right direction but time will tell. This is set to start airing this fall season on ABC.

Wow. It's Quiet Here...
