Big Trouble in Little China Extended! Comes to Blu-Ray

bigtrouble0511092

You know I was actually just watching this on G4 earlier this week and realized how this literally has to be one of the greatest movies of all time. It’s one of those movies that whenever it’s on, is a good time to watch it in my book and literally has to be constantly playing on television somewhere in the world at any give time of the day.  It’s Big Trouble in Little China and it ignited quite a few passions in my life John Carpenter, B-Movies and Kung-Fu and as most people can attest I have never been quite the same.

If you haven’t seen it and I can’t think of any self respecting movie geek that hasn’t it’s the story of Jack Burton(Kurt Russell), truck driver and master of the one liners who gets caught up in an epic struggle in the underground of San Francisco’s Chinatown. He does this when his friend’s girlfriend is kidnapped by kung-fu masters, with the power of the elements who serve a 2000-year-old ancient sorcerer named Lo Pan. Needless to say there is epic kung-fu battles, cheesy dialog and some really awesome monsters after all this is the director who gave us such great films as Escape from New York, They Live and Halloween.

Now this classic is once again getting the special edition treatment this time on Blu-ray with extras not on the previous 2 disc dvd edition. Where do they keep finding this stuff for these releases anyway? Of note this edition will include the theatrical and a brand new extended cut. This will street on August 4th from Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment and word on the street is, unlike most of their other releases this will be a true hd transfer not a dvd up convert. Check the rest of the specs below you can believe this ones going on my Amazon que. You can pre-order it on Amazon here for $20.99 which for a new Blu-ray is not too bad. Check out the specs below:

Fuck and yes. I caught this on G4 the other day as well and my wife sighed, “seriously, this again?” A favorite since my youth, there is no movie that I want on Blu-Ray more.
