New Star Trek Clips Showcase Kirk, Bones Goodness
Paramount’s enormous marketing push for Star Trek continues with two — count ‘em, two — new clips released yesterday on the interwebs. The clip above, an exclusive from the MTV Movies Blog, gives us an extended look at Kirk’s bar brawl against some of Starfleet’s finest. In the process, Chris Pine exudes the essence of James T. Kirk as a brash youth.
The second clip, which can be seen over at Yahoo! Movies, shows how perfectly Karl Urban pulls off DeForest Kelley’s Dr. Leonard “Bones” McCoy. His performance is seriously uncanny. When I showed this scene to my father, a die-hard fan of The Original Series, a big dumb grin spread across his face and he said matter-of-factly, “That is McCoy.”
All-in-all, these clips (plus repeated abuse of the most recent Star Trek trailer) have left me with a raging nerdon. Both videos give us a glimpse at how much more believably human Kirk and the Enterprise crew are being portrayed, and it’s quite awesome. Of course, that’s just my opinion. What do you think?

I’m not a Star Trek fan, but this movie just looks more and more awesome every time I hear about it.
