Geeky Links: Legos & BSG

bsg

Battlestar Galactica Icons – Perfect for your desktop, probably better than the series finale.

Lego Batmobile – Looks great!

Iron Maiden… Done in Chiptune – Rock the hell out, 8-bit style.

Live Together, Die Alone – Duck Hunt ducks. Survival rate? Not good.

Batman Phone – Admit it, you always wanted that big red phone from commissioner Gorden’s office.

iDaft – Daft Punk sounds, in your browser.

Monkey Island Cons: Hi, I’m Guybrush Threepwood

Whoa, whoa. Monkey Island edition Converse All Stars? Epic want.

Perhaps I ramble a bit too much about classic LucasArts games, but hey, I miss those days. I wonder if I can hire someone to make me a pair of Day of the Tentacle sneakers? Or maybe a Full Throttle hoodie. How that would be sweet.

Joystick Coathangers: Simple & Awesome

hanging-joysticks

Tim and I recently moved into new apartments. I’m up in Rittenhouse dealing with snooty women who carry tiny dogs in purses, while he’s down in Northern Liberties partying at sweet bars. He definitely scored the better deal.

I’ve had this in the queue for a while, waiting on some sort of pricing or availability. Alas, there is none, and these awesome joystick coat hangers definitely belong in our new pads. However, I really don’t see the need to actually buy the model. Can’t I just pick up some old Atari joysticks and dip them in glue or something? Far, gimme some help here.

Geeks Who Give: Moved to April 2nd!

G2: Geeks who Game has been rescheduled! The hoppin’ game night planned by Geeks Who Give for Philadelphia Futures has been rescheduled from it’s original date for a great reason: there too many Philadelphia Tech events happening on the same night! Oddly refreshing news.

So, again, if you can’t think of anything better than watching your Enterprise re-runs (or even if you can…), come out to Tattooed Mom’s for G2: Geeks who Game! For those of us 21+, there will be everything from board games and card games to allegedly a few made up games, including “Werewolf”… and I’m not even quite sure what that means– but it sounds fun!

phillygeek

The party goes from 6-9pm at Tattooed Mom’s on 530 South Street. Remember, admission is a minimum of 1 jump drive or 1 package of school appropriate office supplies (pens, notebooks, highlighters, etc).

And of course, Tmom’s is keepin’ it real with awesome specials:

$1.50 Pabst Blue Ribbon
$3.00 Yards Philly Pale
$3.00, Philadelphia Brewing Company Kenzinger
$3.00 Hamburgers or Vegan Burgers.

If you can’t attend G2: Geeks who Game, but would like to be involved with Geeks Who Give, Philadelphia Futures or would like more information about either, please contact Kara at info@geekswhogive.org!

Okay, okay. I promise this is the very last periodic table of something that I’ll post for a while. *

Left 4 Dead: Now in Real Life!

Wow, the folks behind Night Zero, an online photographic comic about the (eventual) zombie apocalypse, recently turned their camera lenses onto a different, but quite similar topic. Valve’s awesome zombie survival game, Left 4 Dead.

Head on over to their Flickr stream to check out several great photos of models posing as your favorite Left 4 Dead characters. Well done guys. Well done.

Classic Dos Games: Play ‘Em Online!

Indiana Jones & The Fate of Atlantis

    Oh. My. God.

I am so getting fired. This site has over 140 classic DOS games available that you can play, in-browser. This includes classic LucasArts games like Indiana Jones & The Fate of Atlantis, The Secret of Monkey Island, and Loom.

There’s also a handful of classic games by Epic, like Jetpack and Jill of the Jungle, and a ton of Apogee (Commander Keen!) titles. I am feeling extremely nostalgic for 3.5 inch floppy discs right now.

    Enjoy!

Geeky Links: Murdering Cupcakes & Peeps

    dexter_cupcakes

Dexter Murder Cupcakes – Tastes like a great TV show!

Crank II Poster – He was dead, but he got better. Best. Tagline. Ever.

100 Ways To Kill A Peep – Hilarious blog that gives you… well, guess. 100 ways to kill a peep. With Easter around the corner, this is perfect.

Hand Sewn Atari Carts?! – Wow! Look at the detail!

White Castle Wedding – Dare I dream?

Mega Man 2 – Kinda in 3D. Totally awesome.

Awesome Shirt: Obama Riding a Unicorn

    obama_unicorn

You know, just because Obama is in the White House, doesn’t mean we’re gonna stop hyping up all the cool creative Obama stuff artists keep churning out. Such as this Obama Unicorn shirt by Chris Bishop, a Washington DC based artist.

There is even a Flickr pool, where purchasers have begun showing off their t-shirts. Check out the baby rocking the threads! Adorable.

Personally, I always pictured Obama riding Pegasus, but I suppose a unicorn will do.

    Oh My Gods: MuppetStar Galactica

I needed to take a moment from my busy day to share one of my absolute fav BSG parodies:

“The Muppets were created by man…”

Also, invite you to take a peak at pictures from Oh My Gods: The BSG Finale Party that was hosted by myself and fellow Geekadelphian, Tim Quirino.

So, Geekadelphians, what did you think of the finale?

Love Ninjas by Mike Maihack: My New Desktop Wallpaper

    love_ninjas_illustration

For Ninja Week over on Drawer Geeks, the excellent Mike Maihack drew this fantastic Love Ninjas illustration.

Those of you unfamiliar with Mike, be sure to visit his official website, Cowshell, where you can access his hilarious and charming comic Cow & Buffalo.

You can download the full size image on his site. Makes for a perfect desktop wallpaper. Looks great on my Macbook’s bright screen.
