New Mega Man 9 DLC Revealed, *Pilfer Man Debuts

Unlike the bevy of cheap bastard enemies dotting the landscape of Mega Man 9, what we have here is an entirely different kind of enemy. Rather than dropping rocks (which then split into smaller, more obnoxious rocks) or hiding beneath a bulletproof shell, this enemy comes in the form of new modes available on the WiiWare Channel/XBLA/PSN and rather than taking away health, it takes large sums of money from you in tiny increments. We could offer you a breakdown of this new DLC on our front page, but we’ve opted to include it after the break and instead discuss why these modes should already be in the game you bought less than a month ago.

1. These modes change little more than difficulty settings and enemy spawn points (with the exception of the ‘Special Time Attack Stage’, which adds a new level/boss).

2.) This stuff was clearly ready to go when MM9 launched in late September. At the very most, they were being polished around the launch.

3.) People would have gladly paid $15 for the original game with all this stuff had they been offered the option of $10/incomplete and $15/complete.

We didn’t even bother to bring up the fact that this is the second DLC wave to wash over onto our shores, further cementing our disdain for it’s lack of inclusion with the original product. For a detailed breakdown of the downloadable content (freshly copy/pasted from the press release), hit the bump.

*Note: “Pilfer Man” is actually our lame attempt at levity. Capcom is the Pilfer Man, pilfering all your $$$.

Hard Mode – Dubbed Hero Mode in Japan, this mode enables you to play the entire game on an increased difficulty level with alternate enemy distribution and spawning points. Hard Mode is not compatible with Rankings or Challenges Modes.

Expert Mode – Dubbed Super Hero Mode Japan, this mode represents the apex of Mega Man 9 difficulty settings and is not for the novice Mega Man 9 player. This mode triples the level of difficulty from the default Mega Man 9 game. Expert Mode is not compatible with Rankings or Challenges Modes.
Special Time Attack Stage – This DLC gives you an additional stage for Time Attack Mode, complete with an
all new level and Robot Master Boss, “Fake Man.” Similar in difficulty to the Willy Stages, players will have a fun time tackling this time sensitive competitive stage. Special Time Attack Stage is not compatible with Challenge Mode.
All three DLC packs are available now on WiiWare Channel today (October 20 th, 2008) with XBLA following on October 21 th, and PSN releasing October 23 th.”
Prices are listed from 100-300 Wii Points ($1-$3), as discovered by Wii Fanboy many moons ago.

I think you mean that Pilfer Man is your lame attempt at “levity,” not brevity. (Sorry, I was in the middle of proofreading something when I saw this post.)

You are correct, sir! I wish I could say english was my second language, but that’d be a flatout lie. Thanks though!
