Fire Extinguisher or Grenade Launcher?

You probably never thought that torturing your siblings with that massive Nerf gun years ago would ever be useful.  What if someone gave you this Shooter and ordered you to put out a fire using bullets filled with the very chemicals inside of a regular old fire extinguisher?  Would you gracefully decline, or …would you grab it with both hands, puffing a Lucky Strike, cackle maniacally as you mowed down a blazing inferno while its reflection danced on your aviators?

I have a feeling I would do the latter, and I’m pretty darn sure a lot of our readers would too - and that is why we want the Philadelphia Fire Department to stock these in mass quantities as of right now.

Unfortunately this product is, along with my last post, still in the concept stages.  That’s where our real power comes in handy!  If we, as geeks, make an concept like this popular enough, someone will buy the idea and manufacture it!  C’mon guys and gals!  Digg until your mouse breaks!

I see some practical changes that should be made. The handle needs to be redesigned for fire fighter comfort (gloves are bulky). And they should add some d-rings so it can be used on a high-rise pack (shoulder straps).

But I think the price point is going to determine whether it enters practical fire fighting. If a fire is big enough that you’re lobbing CO2 pellets into the middle of it, you’re more likely to be bringing hose lines in.

I also think refills will be more expensive. So as awesome as this thing is, I don’t think it’ll get out of the “sweet fucking idea” stage.
