Navy SEALs Visit Philadelphia: Schuylkill River Dolphin Nervous
This Monday, for Memorial Day, Navy SEALs will take over the Schuylkill and give Philadelphians a demonstration of their state-of-the-art craft. They’ll give people tours, hold a ceremony for fallen SEALs (they’ll be planting a memorial tree), share adventure stories with the public, and scare the hell out of the Schuylkill river dolphin.

Strange Star Wars Sand Sculpture
When it comes to sand sculptures, we’re pretty lucky here in Philadelphia. We have Franklin Square Park, where artists work, painstakingly, to maintain gorgeous sculptures in an enormous pile of sand. Check out these gorgeous shots of the King Tut sculpture during the Franklin’s Tut exhibit. 1, 2, 3.
So why couldn’t we have this awesome [...]
Jet Powered Bicycle: Seen Rocketing Through Northern Liberties
Oh Robert Maddox, you brilliant man you. Maddox works as a builder of real jet engines and decided, hey, why not strap one on a bicycle? Check out the results in the YouTube video below.
The engine rockets with over 50 pounds of thrust, launching the bike up to speeds of 75MPH. Unbelievable.

LOLCat Murals: Invisible Bike
Come on Mural Arts, get on this.
While every single mid-20s girl living in University City owns a cat, you wouldn’t be limited to that. You could also paint a mural of a tiny rat dog, dedicated to the pet owners in Rittenhouse Square. It would touch the hearts of so many, and Geekadelphia will help [...]
Cubesday: The Origins of Office Talk
There are a lot of terms you hear thrown around the office. Logging on, boss, getting fired… I know I’ve heard that third phrase several times in the past week, after I threw a stapler at my neighbor. She’s okay. Don’t worry.
Ever wonder where all these phrases came from originally? Check out the origins of [...]
Hellboy II Poster: He’s The Good Guy
It’s a fact. It’s science. Guillermo del Toro is a cinematic genius. Cronos (see it!), his vision of Blade in Blade II, Pan’s Labyrinth, Hellboy… he’s the man, and if you say otherwise, we’ll fight.
I can’t even tell you how excited we are for Hellboy II: The Golden Army to come out, and this beautiful [...]
Hey, There’s An Owl On This T-Shirt… O RLY?!
I love that damn owl.
Neatorama, one of my favorite blogs, recently opened a store packed full of hysterical t-shirts. Not only do they have their original Neatorama designs, but they’re featuring an artist, Mike Jacobson, who has some wonderfully funny comics appearing on some sweet threads.
Consider that O RLY t-shirt purchased.
Speaking of stores, ours is [...]
