First Friday in Philadelphia

Most people don’t know where to look and if you don’t care enough to be apart of the art scene in philly - then yeah - you’ll end up in old city looking at a bunch of old boring stuff. And obviously, toothpaste for dinner, doesn’t know enough to make fun. LAME

This comic is not directly related to Philly, but if you actually care and read about art - then you would know where to go on first friday in Philly. This site should hire some artists - then maybe they would have avoided looking lame - using a comic drawn for something else and referring to Philly. LAME

I believe it shouldn’t be a hassle to find good/interesting art on first fridays.

I’m an artist, and I couldn’t tell you the “go-to” places for first friday. What would have been helpful from beth is if she actually listed some places to go.

I believe if Beth cared and read about art as much as she says, she would be more helpful in promoting the places that actually might show good art on first fridays instead of keeping it more secret than the location of the ark of the covenant.

Now hold on, we all know that there is some DAMN GOOD local Philadelphia art, I’ve seen remarkable exhibits and showings in the 5 years I’ve lived here.

That doesn’t mean we can’t still say that some new art is crap, amirite?

Having graduated with an art degree, I can safely say that artists themselves are the most critical of everyone else. It’s all part of the drive to create something different, because a lot of what exists isn’t good enough…thus…it is mostly crap.
