Information Architects’ Latest Web Trends Map
When Information Architects released last years version of their Web Trends Map, I was really impressed. It was high quality print on beautiful matte stock that illustrated the relative relationships of the most important websites on the internet. I received the notification today that the 2008 version is live and available for all to see!
If you don’t quite understand what it is, here’s the official description:
The map pins down nearly 300 of the most successful and influential websites to the greater Tokyo area train map. Different train lines correspond to different web trends such as innovation, news, social networks, and so on.
For whatever it’s worth, the map is a work of art. It is both beautiful and functional, impeccably designed and I feel that the $55 print is reasonable. If you feel that you’re not totally sold on it, that’s fine too - they invite you to download the entire map as a (large 8mb) PDF. It’s also available as an interactive (clickable) map with real links to the physical websites… or you can just geek out with their desktop-wallpaper action they’ve listed. I know I did!
