When I came across Master Replica’s Star Wars Lightsaber, I had to drop Tim an IM and show it off to him. What followed is a real AIM conversation, though our screen names have been changed to protect us from our screaming fans. Note: I had originally altered Tim’s name to “Fluffy Wittle Bunny” but he immediately logged in and edited it.
Eric: Hey Tim, check this out. I know you want one.
Tim: i already have it! lol.
Eric: Hahah, really?
Tim: it was a Radioshack exclusive for xmas
Tim: my dad got 2
Tim: one for him and one for me
Eric: Aw.
Tim: its fun to play with / deconstruct. and you can specify what color blade, but its not nearly as beautiful as the metal counterparts, that are solid, and not deconstructable. Which is a shame because its the same price. for example, a Vader would cost you $10 more, have about 8″ more on the blade, and look, feel, and weight closer to the real thing.
Eric: …
Tim: with that said, the construction kit is basically a toy
Eric: Hahah
Tim: wheresas the others are meant for light use and display
Eric: I should just paste this whole convo into a Geek post.
Tim: a buddy of mine has every single FX lightsaber made since they started a few years ago, he constructed a wooden and glass case with a switch – upon hitting the switch, they all turn on at once, its pretty geektastic, I loved it.
Eric: Hah, awesome.
Tim: that would be a funny post
Tim: rambling star wars techno babble
Eric: Oh, I’m doing it.
With that said check out the replica lightsabers are available in limited quantities now, so hurry up and hit up Amazon if you want to get one. They’re about $100.
