Remember, Remember, The 31st of… January: Mooninite Scare 2007

I don’t know about everyone else, but I fondly remember the Boston Mooninite Scare of 2007, when police offers in Boston, Massachusetts confused LED powered advertisements for the Aqua Teen Hunger Force movi, to be “improvised explosive devices.” Ah, the hilarity.

There is an in depth Wikipedia article on the subject, and Boing Boing has a TON of information on the events.

However, did you know, that the Moonintes visited Philadelphia?

A resident of Fishtown installed 18 of the devices through out Philadelphia, and only three were ever recovered. It’s safe to assume they were stolen, but man, what we wouldn’t give to have one of those right now.

Ah yes, The Great Lite-Brite Boston Bomb Scare. We all loved that story.

I was browsing my archives and couldn’t believe it’s already been a year.

So far this stands out as the greatest moment of the 21st century.
